in high-point next week, need guidance

greenspun.com : LUSENET : North Carolina Raves : One Thread

Hey kids! It seems I'm gonna be sent over to High Point, NC from the UK for 5 days next week (wed to sun) by my work. This is going to involve lots of sitting in the hotel being bored and hacking at fruityloops (ok, so not 100% bored), _unless_ someone here can help me out with finding some good parties to go to (and I don't want to go to sports bars with the suits I'm meeting with)... I'm mainly into psy-trance, hardcore techno, industrial, hard-house, dnb, IDM, breakbeat/breakcore and gabber as well as punk, ska-punk and a bit o' metal (I know this isn't *that* type of forum tho). If anyone can help me that would dope as fuck cos I'll go mad if I'm bored. Oh and can someone clear up the term 'kandy-kidz' for me... sounded like pill heads, but I saw someone on here calling themselves a kandy kid and saying they don't do Es... ??? Different scene, different language I suppose! I've only ever been clubbing in england and amsterdam... wanted to go clubbing in the states for ages but last time I was there was a family holiday and I hadn't started clubbing yet. The realisation that I might be able to catch a party was what made me agree to this trip!

Shit... I've rambled again :) (oh yeah... whats the chances of me being able to get a smoke while there????)

Thanks! Doogle

Hmm... ok. I understand how what I was saying could be misunderstood to mean I was asking to buy drugs over the internet, which would be fucking stupid... However, I was actually asking 'what the chances' were (and that was only tongue in cheek anyway)... ie. if I want stuff here, I call my guy, but if I'm in another part of the country, theres certain places where you can pick up... it won't be so good, but theres sometimes still a chance. The answer to that particular question would probably take the form 'not likely', 'quite easy' etc. etc... _NOT_ 'heres my number, gimme a call when you get off the place'... cos that _would_ be very very stupid. Jeeeezus!... they must be a lot more strict about drugs where you are than over here. Thats pretty sad.

If you have been clubbing in Amsterdam and the UK, North Carolina is not the place to check out the scene. Make the trip to Washington DC or Atlanta. The edm scene is definitely not representative of the edm in the US. Also, e and what not is not much part of it anymore. Since everything has been moved to clubs, it's mostly alcohol, except for some young, dumb kids. Candy kids are the newcomers who dress all colorful like candy. It's an awful phase. Grow up.
