I tried to burn a vcd to a cd-r and it wont play on my component. Why is this so, thus a stand alone player will play the videos that i burned?

The VS70 should be able to play VCDs ok. Have you tried to play a VCD that was purchased in a store. It may be that the VS70 won't play CD- R at all - have you ever tried an audio CD-R?

Also, make sure that the VCD you made is actually VCD compliant. MPEG- 1 video with MP2 audio.

It appears that your Pioneer VS70 is only sold in Asia. Read the manual and read if it supports VCD on CD-R media. Some VCD players in Asia won't play CD-R at all because it helps to cut down on piracy.
