Hi Does anyone know what OVA stands for? I've seen Rurouni Kenshin OVAs (1, 2, 3, etc) and I just what to know what it means. Thanks in advance for your answer ^_^

OVA stands for Original Video Animation, or OAV original animated video- this is basically shows that were not shown on tv but put on dvds and such. Their are 2 kenshin ova's , Trust and Betrayal consisted of 4 parts, and Seisouhen or Reflection consisted of 2 parts

trust and betrayal is the storyline that takes place before the series and seisouhen is the ending, however, different from the manga

So are you saying that an OVA is the episode plus a few other things. (e.g. stuff that were not shown on tv but is a part of the episode)

No im saying that the ova - think of it as a movie but it wasn't shown on theatres but put straight on dvd.

Im sorry read your post wrong- most of the time it is part of the "series" if that is what you meant- sometimes it has nothing to do with it story- but the Kenshin OVAs have a lot to do with the story however the ending is different from the manga

Oooooohhhhhhhh.... So your saying that an OVA is like a short story that might or migth not relate to the actual story of the anime series. I think I get it now!
