Communion

Is it true that one cannot take communion unless one has been to confession recently, and has not eaten food within the last hour?

Jacob,

Confession is only strictly necessary if you are in a state of mortal sin. My understanding is that fasting at least an hour before partaking of the Eucharist is still the norm.
