The University of Notre Dame will have a new president next year. Hopefully he will be closer to the Church's teachings than his predisesor.

Scott, I am not up on this story. I know nothing about the existing president. What was it about Father Malloy that gave you the impression he wandered from Church teachings?

Two things I think he has been criticized for. There may be more. One is that homosexual events have taken place on campus such as the "Queer Film Fest" and "Vagina Monologues." The other is that Notre Dame continues to employ Father Richard McBrien, a noted liberal theologian and perhaps apostate, despite the pleas of many that he brings scandal upon the University. His (McBrien's) views on priestly celibacy, the canonization of saints and many other issues have raised the hackles of many Catholics. In a review of one of his books, the National Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Doctrine "takes issue with Father McBrien's contention that Jesus "could have sinned" and with McBrien's questioning of the virginal birth of Jesus and the perpetual virginity of Our Lady."

Brain pretty much stated my problems with the current president. There are other things that I can't call to my mind right now.
