Hey Guys (and Gals),

For some reason I am anticipating the forum to be attacked again. If the forum goes private again, it will be the same password as before (NEVER post it on ANY thread). Other forum regulars, you can help out by emailing the password other "regulars" you think might not know it. Most of the threads are saved, so if some get attack, restoration will be faster.

I had a dream that a baby was thrown into a well. It was up to me to dive in and rescue the infant. I did. The infant was on my shoulder as I squeezed water from its insides. The infant lived. Generally, I've had dreams about these forums and , as Elpidio will witness, things do seem to get messed up shortly there after.

Always follow your intuitions, David. They are there for a reason.

Also (Yes I'm guilty of this too), I will start deleting off topic- remarks on threads (Even mine). So, if a certain post gets deleted, don't complain (that means you too Rod), and just start another thread. Also, I have copies in my mailbox in case you did save your post, just email me and I'll see if I can find it.

David,

Could you consider this deletion thing to be more like "from now on..."? I didn't realize that you were that drastic in how you operate things here. I mean, if someone makes one small comment on a thread, then others comment on that, it's very easy for something to get off topic. Normal conversation in real life just automatically goes from one thing to the next. We have several very good threads (like the one about Mary) going that were supposedly "off topic," and it would be a shame to lose all of that dialogue.

Perhaps, could you provide me with your rationale behind the idea of wanting everything to stay on the topic of the original thread? I mean, there were some posts that I worked really hard on, and others did too, I'm sure. Right now, I don't really see any good reason behind it. In fact, all I can see is that it will stifle dialogue. I can see myself thinking in the future, "Oh, I shouldn't post a response to this person, since it might bring the thread off topic." See what I mean? I guess I think it would be beneficial to me if you shared your reasoning behind this so I can warm up to the idea :)

Thanks and God bless.

Emily

I have noticed that I am usually followed by motives of deletion, censorship, and off-topic accusations. I'm the apparent instigator of such things. Has anyone else noticed? David?

What is it with me and your forum, David?

The word of the day:

eclectic(ee-Klek-teek)- 1. selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles. 2. composed of elements drawn from various sources.

Some people are just so eclectic in their thinking they can't be put in specific boxes or envelopes.

I say don't delete the posts or thread, delete the topic titles and replace them to fit the thread. Example:

Let's say the topic is "Halos". The thread begins with posts about "Halos", then the topic moves to "Etherial Bodies", then to "Human Bodies In Heaven", then to "New Heavenly Bodies Of Saved Souls", to "Young Or Old Bodies?", to "Of What Purpose Would Bodies Have In Heaven?", to "Do Only Angels Have Halos?", to David's eventual remarks: "Halos Are An Invention Of The Catholic Church", to "Egyptian Beliefs In Angels". and on and on........

Wouldn't it just be a good idea not to delete the progression of thoughts and instead change the topic title to....oh......I don't know?.....How about:

"So, What's Up In Heaven?"

Rod,

Usually, there are some that are very broad when it comes to posting. Like in the Forum Rules or Notes, or like Andrew's "A Must See Site For All" one. Those I can let slide by, but not the baptism threads, or salvation threads. If we are talking about baptism, there is no need to start another discussion about Original sin on that thread, (that's why you make a rightful thread or continue in another). Or are you don't to be talking about the Marian dogmas in a Calvinist thread. See what I'm getting at? (No you don't).

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), May 05, 2004.

It is Kevin, not David that says "[It's] An Invention Of The Catholic Church" more often.

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), May 05, 2004.

...but, to a Catholic, baptism has much to do with original sin. Get it? (no you don't). Yes I forgot, Kevin does say that. I won't say what you say, though.

Didn't you think my previous post was funny, David?

Can I start my own thread titled, "Off-Topic Topics"? You could delete any post that goes off-topic in that thread.

We could discuss or debate anything from Piaget's Philosophy to Geshault Theories to Angels On A Pinhead to Nothing Can Exist When It Is Non-existant In The First Place: The Great Paradox.

Dave

there has been an encouraging increase of users here recently - who might deserve to get the password - but who might perhap be the saddo thats trying (this time, if its not that perv Tom again) to bring this thing down.

Gail, Emily, Kevin, James, have been sent the password with David's instructions. I think Elpidio knows the password. He'll email me if I missed him.

I don't believe I have Jim's email address.

What about Zarove?

I always get a "failure" message on yours, Ian. I forgot where I put your last email address.

Hi

I'm here. though, there is something about my security settings that makes it hard to get in when this forum goes "password"

Jim, That's easy to fix. Go to Internet Options: Security: Trusted Sites:

You should find some where to add a website there (might be a button that says 'Sites'), once your there, add www.greenspun.com as a trusted site and you should have no problems from then on.
