Venice to Ft. Ogden, Fl Rail Line

Would like to find a map of the rail line that ran from Venice or Sarasota to Ft. Ogden or a map of Florida Railroads from about 1930. Since I came to Fl. in 1999 to work for Seminole Gulf, being a 48 year R.R. vet I have become interested in the R.R. history of Fl.

Harry: the line between East Sarasota (actually Bee Ridge) and Fort Ogden (to a place called Southfort) was built by the Atlantic Coast Line RR during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. It was torn up in the 1940s. I cover it in my book 'Railroads of Southwest Florida' which I think you stock in your SemGulf gift store on Colonial Avenue. If not, try Barnes & Noble in Fort Myers (Tamiami Trail, next to Target). It's also for sale on the ACL-SAL website bookstore. When you get a moment, contact me at my e-mail address.
