Shaking of the picture

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I can not play vcds on my players(two different models, RCA,DRC220N and Philips DVDR75) which are supposed to play vcds. These vcds supposedely work on other people's players. The problem I am having is that the video picture shakes like the old tracking problem with the vhs tape players.Audio comes out good. Anyway to make the picture still by adjusting something? Thanks

I assume the VCD plays ok on your computer once it is burnt?

One of two things:

Is the picture just jerky/shaking? This may be the result of improper NTSC to PAL conversion. Your player may be able to play the VCD, but for some reason, it or your television can't quite decode the output properly.

If the picture is black&white and rolling like when the tracking was really off, then your trying to play an PAL video on an incompatible player.

I would say that if the VCDs play ok on other players, it's just that your player can't decode the video properly.
