Traditional Chinese Medicine for AVNgreenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread
Hello. I am of Chinese descent and would like to know if anybody has head about traditional chinese medicine for avascular necrosis. My chinese friends introduced me to www.femurhead.com which was founded by Dr. Kequin Huang. I am wondering if anyone has heard about this or if anyone has any information that this may not be true. Thank you.

Hello Mina, I just came across femurhead.com while researching AVN. I too am looking for more information on Dr.Huang but have found precious little. Have you been able to find anything? Singa

At this time, there is no proven method for stopping avascular necrosis. The only viable treatment is ensuring that the damage done by the disease is minimized as much as possible. To treat a child with traditional Chinese medicine would be to put at risk the long term outcome of the shaping of head and socket.
I have seen Dr. Huang's website femurhead.com and it seems that all he offers is a diagnostic tool, Chinese herbs and not much else. Until we understand what it is that starts the process in the first place, it will be difficult to develop new treatments that are truly effective.
