They haven't been posting split results on the video feed or the webpage lately, and the occasional english commentary we heard earlier hasn't come up.

Finally a TV control. Huovila (sp?) still leads for Halden. I think the lead has grown very large with a large group forming way back, but it has been hard to follow... I'll wait to see.

The TV controls are worked by groups of older men it seems, perhaps thinking back to the 50's, 60's, or 70's when they were running Tio-Mila. It looks like a pretty cool night. They must be happy it has stayed dry!

A bit of music playing now... kind of cheesy, but at least it's in Swedish, not some stupid American pop song!

The big group has arrived! They are just over 11 minutes behind. The camera work at this control isn't as clean as we've seen at others... like Blair Witch meets ESPN.

A second big group arrives maybe 30s behind the first group. I suspect 15-20 orienteers have gone through now.

Huovila is a decent runner. Perhaps the race for the win is decided, but certainly we have a brand new race for the other top places!

The first group to follow Halden was a group of 5 (FK Friskus-V., Goteborg, Tamp. Py., Västerbergslagens OL, and Södertälje). The second group was about 9 including Ravinen, Paimion Rasti, Göteborg-Majorna, Turun Met., Rajamäen Rykmentti, Ulricehamn, Malungs, Lynx, and Kangasala SK. 4 minutes following them came DELTA, Kristiansand, Kalevan Rasti...

Jarkko Huovila went out on his leg with a 3:20 lead over Malungs. At the first radio control he had leads of 11:11, 11:53, 16:12, and 22:46 over following groups. At the second radio (forewarning) the first three of those following groups had merged into one 17:29 back! The gap closed to 16-something though at the x-change. Unfortunately for the group including IKHP, Orion, Leksands, and Linkoping, they were one group behind those who merged.

Interviewed, partially in english, after the race, Huovila said he'd been training all winter with some expectation of running the long night leg and that he was "a little bit" surprised that the lead at the time of his interview had stretched to over 17 minutes.
