Edgar Allan Poe has had a variance of impacts on American Society. He has, with his unique writing style and ideologies, transformed modern literature. By introducing the story of macabre and detective, he has influenced many present day writers that have earned titles as the greatest of all time. It is important though, that those readers come to the realization and give the respect to he who died a painful death due to his inability to gain universal acceptance for his works. Poe is he who deserves such respect. Also throughout the duration of his "reign" upon literature, Edgar inroduced many approaches that were differencial to any of the preceding tales or poems throughout history. Without Poe's independent and powerful ideologies and philosophies in literature, today's society, especially America's would differ in the area of literary works.
