2nd annulment

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I am a Catholic who was married in the Catholic Church, civily divorced and received a church annulment. Then, I remarried. I married a Catholic man in a Catholic ceremony. After 13 years of marriage and 3 children, I found out that he was cheating and stealing and lying (as well as being verbally and emotionally abusive through the marriage to the children and to me) I didn't want a divorce and tried to save the marriage. I found out the cheating, stealing and lying after he walked out on me and told me that I didn't meet his expectation! That's when I filed for divorced and as of recently everything is civilly complete. However, I'm still married in the church and I feel uncomfortable about this. Am I eligible for a second annulment? God knows this guy is a piece of work and I that I tried everything to save my marriage. I don't want to be spiritually tied to this man. What do I need to do and how do I need to present my case? thanks!

Susan,

There's no reason you can't contact the local Tribunal and discuss whether or not your marriage may qualify for an annullment. There is no numerical limit.

Hope that's helpful.

Susan,

Keep in mind also that this spiritual tie may be a cross that Christ expects you to bear, and be happy for it.
