Manifestation of faith??

I think it is a trick. I think it is designed to take our focus off of Jesus and it puts it on the person experiencing this--and then people build shrines to that person, rather than to Christ.

This sort of thing.., like the *host* from communion that supposedly literally turned into a hunk of flesh and blood--and is now is canonized in the museum at the Vatican--only serves to confirm Catholicism..,and this leads people astray from the only saving truth there is..,faith in Jesus Christ.

But, what if it actually brings them to a faith in Christ? It could work both ways. Mortals do have a habit of corrupting things, but what if it edifies God when believed as something Holy?

I question any phenomena, so I look at the effects of that phenomena. Does it sell trinkets or does it lead to Salvation--real Salvation?

The whole thing just seems to keep Jesus as a perpetual victim.., rather than the glorious risen Christ that He is....

People dwell on his suffering and forget that His death has healed us and we have peace and joy---not gloom and doom.

There could be no reason for these people to be suffering. Christ paid the penalty and suffered in our place.

As the Bible proclaims--It is finished

rod,

You wrote, "But, what if it actually brings them to a faith in Christ?" How does one come to "faith in Christ" rod??? What does Romans 10:17 say???

I'm still reading up on this. Stigmata is one of these hard-to-pin- down manifestations, if manifestation at all. It is no suprise that folks with empathy to others have some sort of feeling identifying with the pain. Perhaps in extreme cases, someone might actually feel physical assult as a result of a "connection." I feel i'm getting into other waters here, more into psychology. Is Stigmata simply extreme empathy? I dunno. Is it divine? Well I'm less inclined to believe that right now, just as I'm less inclined to believe anyone can be slain in the spirit.

I sometimes believe Luke that the wounds are self inflicted. Then they never truly scar. Then comes mind over mater. Unless you are Catholic, then they think you have a divine connection with Jesus Christ. Famous stigmatists: Francis of Assissi, 13th century, Padre Pio (2oth century). The Christian Yahwist
