does The Ascension end His suffering?

After Christ ascended into heaven did His suffering cease? Wouldn't man's sins cause pain to the Trinity?

Hi Holly,

That's an excellent question. I wish I had a good answer. My understanding is that Christ (being God) does not suffer as we think of suffering. However, he did allow Himself to suffer "once and for all" on the cross to save us from our sin.

Sin hurts us and others rather than God (as in the Trinity). But God, being love, wants us to turn away from that which hurts us. He is infinite and does not suffer pain the way we think of it.

I have heard how sin and lukewarm faith can cause Jesus sorrow, so I wonder how this fits in.

It may be that Jesus allows himself to feel these emotions out of love for us since he has both a human as well as a divine nature, but I'm just guessing.

It may be that Christ suffers through us, His Body.

It may be that I am trying to explain the Divine in human terms and am falling way short of explaining something that is really a mystery.

Hopefully, someone much smarter than me will add their two cents worth.
