Important Exit Project Information

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Middle School Science : One Thread

At a meeting Friday, Region 10 announced that it will collect data on Grade 8 Science Exit Projects this year. If you teach grade 8 science in Region 10 there are 2 forms that are to be submitted to the regional office at the end of May – exact deadline will be posted when I get the information.

The first form,

Individual Student Report

is an individual account of each student’s performance broken down into the separate elements of an exit project AS DEFINED BY THE NY CITY EXIT PROJECT GUIDE, which is now available online:

NYC Grade 8 Exit Project Guide

Notice that this may be a bit of a challenge for those in Region 10 who have used the SMART Process Project Requirement Guidelines for the last couple of years and are using SMART Process rubrics. However, for most people, this simply requires using the DOE rubrics for evaluation of the projects instead, as the essential elements are pretty much the same.

The other form is a class/school report:

School/Class Report

This report summarizes the performance of each class in the school, as the name suggests. Report the number of students in each class with a scaled score of 1, 2, 3, or 4.

If you have questions about this requirement, please consult your Science AP.
