Z, it has more episodes, more action and most of the saiyan transformations, while gt is all about goku, pan and trunks finding the dragonballs, even the evil 17 saga sucked ass

I can't even believe someone would ASK this question. GT wasn't even by Toriyama-Sensei. GT sucked. Why the Hell else do you think it only has 64 frickin' episodes?! Dragonball Z is the final true chapter of the Dragonball universe, and even if you DO like GT there is no way in HELL it is better than Z. And where the Hell do you get that it has "more action"?! Fat chance, kid!!!! GT sucked in Japan, and you can be damn sure the English version sucks FAR worse.

what id like to know is what do the letters after the names mean is there a point with the Z or GT. personally i like Z but i like the colour sceme in GT it makes it seem alot darker that the previous series and i like that kinda thing

GT= Grand Tour Z= the Z in dbz doesn't really stand for anything in the series. akira toriyama, the creator, only added that to show readers that this series was coming to an end. *if you don't believe me, read the 03 july issue and dbz section of Shonen Jump!*

Oh and actually, while it IS correct that GT is Grand Tour, I'm gonna elaborate on the Z part. Toriyama-Sensei really didn't come up with Z. Z is only in the Anime, while the Manga was just "Dragonball" throughout. To distinguish that the "Z" portion of the series was going to be different Toei considered altering the title a bit, and Toriyama-Sensei suggested Z since it was the last letter of the Roman alphabet and that it was THE LAST CHAPTER OF THE SERIES, not that it was coming to an end because it continued for a long while after it became Z (Even though, yes, Toriyama-Sensei wanted to end after the Freeza Saga). But yeah, pretty much just what Pearson said.

Actually, I heard that Toriyama planned to end the series after the Cell games, leaving Gohan to be the guardian of earth.

Anyway,GT could have been better but they made the mistake of neglecting key characters that made 'Z' what it was. Choosing to ignore the likes of Piccolo, Tien, Goten, Vegeta and especially Gohan, while focusing mainly on Gokou and Pan automatically doomed the series.

GT might have become a worthy sequal to 'Z' if it had the following changes

1. Didn't neglect the supporting characters from 'Z'

2. Made Gohan the main Character instead of always having Gokou in the lime light.

3. Had better sagas! The last saga (dragon saga) was the worst in my opinion, Gogeta's potental was wasted on pointless enemies. If they were gonna stick to the fusion idea, It would have made a nice end to GT, if instead Cell and Frieza found a way to fuse. As ridiculous as that sounds, that probably would have become the best most entertaining saga in GT, and Gogeta's powers would not have been wasted.

ok i have never heard of Gogeta i thought the fusion of goku and vageta was named vageto. and second of all DIDN'T CEll AND FREIZA DIE??!! Okay Look OBVIOUSLY Informer X hasn't paid ANY attention to GT, so i'm kinda wondering why you're even here!! If you did you would know that Gogeta was formed in the fusion, and that Cell and Frieza were at least partly revived in hell.

My point was that GT might have stood a better chance against 'Z' if those changes I mentioned were made.

Live for your Dreams-Yeah, Toriyama-Sensei FIRST was going to end the series after the Freeza Saga, but after he did more (offered more еее, of course), he THEN decided to end it after the Cell Saga and make Gohan-Kun the hero (Which would have been MY fave ending). However of course more еее was offered and thus we have the Buu Saga. Even though the DBZ ending sucked ass though and I would have loved the series to have ended after Cell, I would have missed having the Buu Saga (no Gotenks and the Chibi's?! HELL NO!!!!!!!!). And I think you would like my idea of Dragonball IGNO (If GT Never Occured)-A sequel to DBZ starring grown up Goten and Trunks. E-Mail me if you have any interest. Ja ne!

GT really REALLY REEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY sucks. I'm sure that the English version sucks 100 x more. And for reasons GT could have been better...Well I think it was doomed anyways since the absence of Toriyama-Sensei, but possibly if they hadn't made it focus on Gokou again...And well, you know...By the end of DBZ the characters were old ENOUGH without GT needing to make another frickin' 10 years pass and make everyone super OOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDD...Maybe if they didn't pass an extra 10 years and the plot was a little less ridiculous, it could have had SOME hope, y'know?

LFYD its fine i just dont like it when people say they dont know why im here for not knowing anything about an anime like GT. sorry man yeah i dont think Goku should have been the star, but they could have put him in there. I thinki it would be good if Trunks Uub Goten or Goku were the main character. any of them woulda worked. Goku being a kid again was a good idea though ya gotta admit. it makes things more desperate for the characters.SG2 the english version isn't bad its okay. Informer x, no worries man, guess I over reacted a little bit, didn't mean to offend.

Before GT aired I heard (from unreliable sources) that Gohan was to be the main character of GT. I loved the idea since Gohan was my fav character in Z, and the idea of the father passing down his responsibility to his son appealed to me. It was a let down for me when I found Gokou to still be the main Character, and even worse when I saw how Gohan had been neglected, after all the time they spent developing his character in Z.

EXACTLY. I personally think there are MANY more things wrong with GT, but Hell yeah!!!!!!!! Gohan-kun is my favorite character, and I would have totally loved it if the series ended with the Cell Saga and him being the hero. I didn't like him as an adult even in the Buu Saga, but he grew up and that's something I gotta accept. He was still a kick-ass fighter. But GT kinda just followed the end of Z where Gohan was a nerd, but made it worse. That's why in my IGNO sequel Gohan is going to look deep inside himself and realize he was always a fighter at heart, and throw off the shackels of nerddom and become a fighter again. Yeah...It may sound like I'm just being bias but I really really think IGNO has some good ideas in it!!!!!!

Yeah, ending the Z series at the Cell games might not have been such a bad idea, but there were some good aspects of the buu saga.

Personally though, my Fav saga was the whole Cell saga (From Trunks- to the Cell games). Piccolo vs 17 was the best fight in DBZ in my opinion. What's your fav saga Suupaa Gohan 2?

You can call me SG2. My fave Saga is the Cell Saga by far. If you couldn't gather so from my name, my fave character is Gohan-kun (actually in the Super Saiyajin 1 form), and my favorite scene is him going SSJ2 (I just think it's an ugly form and SSJ1 is cuter). Thus my favorite song by my favorite singer in my favorite episode of my favorite series...Is Unmei no Hi Tamashii tai Tamashii, the song used in Gohan's SSJ2 transformation.

UNMEI NO HI TAMASHII TAI TAMASHII is the song used as Gohan's SSJ2 song. It's by Kageyama Hironobu...You know, the guy who sings Cha- La Head-Cha-La, We Gotta Power, and almost any other DBZ song you can think of? If you wanna hear it go to dragonballz.de in the section "Music Vault" and then "DBZ/GT Music". Once on the CD Select screen pick the one (near the bottom) that's "All openings/endings". The song is in there. It's really great. EVERYONE READING THIS GO LISTEN TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SG2 HAS SPOKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geeze how can you people even think for a second that GT is better than Z? Are you guys alright? If you think that Gt is better than maybe you havent watched all of Z! The androids and cell sagas along with Trunks were the best anime eva made! I have it all on dvd! Im currently watching DBGT and its so boring i cant even look at it without focusing my attention to a blank wall. (how exciting). Even the majin Buu bit of DBZ was good. GT sucked! It was a terrible way to end the great anime! SO im gonna say that it ended after majin buu!

Hell yeah that's what I said!!!!!!!! Who could possibly like GT more? IT WASN'T EVEN BY TORIYAMA-SENSEI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!! Although GT's ending was 100x better than DBZ's...DBZ's ending was just aweful. But that's why besides my regular crazy Doujinshii I just started writing a new Doujinshii which is a sequel to DBZ. It's called Dragonball IGNO (If GT Never Occured) and it's the adventures of the formerly chibi Goten and Trunks!!!!!!! It's gonna be cool!! I started scribbling down ideas about a month ago but I just got around to writing a script for chapter 1 about 20 minutes ago in History class...It's gonna be cool.
