Adler, H.E. & Rieber, R.W. (1994). _Aspects of the history of Psychology in America: 1892/1992_. Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, vol 727. (especially Michael Sokal's chapter).
Also the February, 1992 issue of the _American Psychogist_ (vol. 47, no. 2, I think) was dedicated to the history of the association. Look, again, particularly for the article by Michael Sokal.
