When union member strike...can the company force management to work?

Can a company force (under the threat of termination) employees to work 7 days a week 12 hours a day should union members strike? Can they also demand that you spend your OWN time training to cover a job for a union member should there be a strike? Seems that the company is demanding WAY above and beyond of it's employees. I want to know if it's legal.
