Please allow Members to make monthly deposits & accumulate driving credit!

I've been a member of ZIPCAR for 5 months now & only used the zipcar once (last night),which in fact was an enjoyable experience.

My reason for not having used ZIPCAR in all that time is because of the mental battle I have in terms of costs between ZIPCAR & public transportation.

Most of my trips are to do with visiting family in Long Island. It costs my wife & I $24 Train + $4 subway (or $20 taxi fees), when we arrive at our destination we request a family member to pick us up - or pay $5 taxi fee. Average of $40 to go via public transportation.

With ZIPCAR - it costs me $60 - 80 to go out for 4-5 hours or so & pay for 45 miles.

My mental battle therefore, when we want to make a trip is: Should we spend $40 or $80/$100. This is really a no brainer - in favour of public transportation (hence my ZIPCAR record todate), however if I could deposit $200 a month to zipcar & accumlating driving credit this decision would not be a no brainer - I would say to my wife 'we have driving credit'.

This all sounds like mind games, but it would work for me - anyone else like this idea?

Please consider this, you have the ability to offer credit when people first join, or when they wash the car etc.

You could always give yourself a gift certificate (see http://www.zipcar.com/gift/ ), we've had several members who have done that. Or better yet, encourage others to give you a gift certificate ("What does he want for his birthday this year, I know he doesn't need a car because he uses that Zipcar thing, and his apartment is full of all the latest gadgets, hmmm, maybe a subscription to Mad Magazine...") It is simply dollar for dollar "driving credit." We'll also be announcing some new membership plans soon and perhaps one of them may appeal to you more than your current one.
