greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Sadly, I would like to report the death of Rev. Arthur Foy,II pastor of St. Mark AME Church, Duluth, Minnesota and Minister of Music, Maurice Southern. Maurice Southern was the son of Rev. Millard Southern, Jr.,, pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church, Chicago and the grandson of the late Rev. Millard Southern, Sr. who pastored in the Chicago Conference for many years. Both were enroute to the 4th District's Midyear meeting in Oakbrook, Illinois. Their car was struck; Rev. Foy was killed instantly on yesterday, and Brother Southern passed on today. Please pray for the Foy and Southern families, as both families were both very active members of the AME Church.

Actually, the information about Brother Maurice Southern is incorrect. The good news so far is that Brother Southern is still alive. However, he is in critical condition, and is breathing on a ventilator. He is in a hospital in Wisconsin. Let us continue to pray for both the Foy and Southern families during this difficult time. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of my brother, Rev. Arthur Foy III. I was in total disbeief when I later learned that young Maurice Southern had died due to injuries sustained in the accident. My prayers go out to the families of both these fine men of God. In our prayers, let us remember Jennifer Foy, wife of Rev Arthur Foy, Christian, Alexa, and Caleb, his children, and Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Foy, Jr. parents of Rev. Arthur Foy III. Keep The parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles of Maurice inour prayers as well. The fourth district and the AME Connection has lost two true soldiers of God.
