I think my dog is pregnant. She mated in the last week of February. Her nipples are swollen and hanging down and she has gained a lot of weight. I am worried because I have read that you have to have an experienced person to watch her birth the puppies. I have also read that most of the puppies die if you do not have a c-section for her. Well, if you can help me please do!! Thanks a lot!!

How much does your dog weigh? You don't have to have an experienced person to watch the birth, but if she is smaller than usual, then I would keep a close watch on her myself because if anything should go wrong you can always take her to the vet. As far as the c-section, thats not true either. I have a chi who is at the end of her pregnancy with rat terrier pups and she only weighed 3lbs when she bred with this 6 or 7lb rat terrier and my vet says she should have no problems with giving birth. This will be her 1st litter, so I am a little nervous, but I trust my vet. let me know!!

it takes at least 3 months to have their puppies...it is said that they take at least 68 days.
