How do I get a CD on to VHS Video

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Instead of everybody, I wish to make the opposite way. I live in a South American country and most of the poor people here don't have yet access to DVD or VCD technology, but still have VHS players. I need in my profession to make some presentations teaching them how to do this or that. I can do it in my PC and burn it in some CD. So far so good, but at this point I figure that there's no help telling me how to send this presentations to the VHS video tape. It's very important to have an explanation of it, since there are people needing urgently to be helped. Thank you in advance, Carlos.

I assume that you have a standalone device to play the DVD or VCD? Easiest way to make a VHS tape would be to take the video/audio output from your player and hook it to the record inputs of a VCR. Record like any normal program.

If you don't have a standalone DVD/VCD player, check the outputs of your computer's video card. Most newer cards have S-Video output, or composite if you're lucky. Your VCR will also need the corresponding input, of course. Connect the audio from the sound card's output to the VCR also, and you should be able to record whatever's on the computer's screen. This is an inelegant way of doing things, as it ties up your computer, but it's really the only way without a standalone player.
