I didn't look at the site, but first guess would be to say that the two you are talking about are his adoptive family, the Allan's. They never formally adopted him (meaning, no paperwork was filed). But they raised him.

the pitcure you saw of jhon and fanny allan was edgar poe step parents. he loved his step mother fanny so much, because he did not have a middle name he put allan there because he had a loving mother again and a good family. now we say edgar allan poe, if he never meet them he might of die and we would of never heard of him or not become a writer. we would of called him edgar poe. edgar allan poe sounds better.

Yes Poe was left orphaned by his parents. His mother was a famous actress but her name was Elizabeth Arnold Poe...not Fanny so that ruins that answer.
