Spring hasn't quite sprung but will spring soon

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

In honor of Spring arriving in less than a week, it has decided to snow all day. There's now at least half a foot on the ground with another 4 inches expected. Then, just for fun, we're to get a layer of sleet and freezing rain to cover everything as temps rise slightly. The kids got out early from school and tomorrow there'll be a 'delayed opening'---that is if there's to be any school at all.

And to think Marie was all excited a few days ago about seeing the first Robin in the yard.

Spring ain't quite Sprung.

poopie.

It's been one of the coldest winters on record, and I can't wait for Spring, and to start fishing. The flounder should be biting in the rivers and estuaries starting any day now. Yummy flounder.

Here's to Spring! (cyber toast ;-)

Rob. I just read an email from my cousin in England and he echoes your sentiments. They have had snow and freezing temps. this past week, but things have improved greatly the last few days so I hope the good weather is headed your way.

We are having some beautiful autumn days, warm and still. The nights are getting cold, but who cares, that's what they make feather quilts for.

LOL Carol, autumn huh?!?!?

Well it snowed lightly for about 48 hours but mostly didn't stick after the first 8-10 inches. Anyone who saw the NYC Parade yesterday knows we were basically getting that same light steady stuff. We had another inch or so to scrape off of everything overnight, but the rest of today was dry.

Tonight, after midnight, we get it again. Another 6 inches or so, starting in the wee hours and being most intense throughout the morning and into the afternoon. The morning 'rush hour' is expected to be bad and naturally I have to be in it. poopie.

When is Spring again?

Drive carefully, Rob!

As for the complaints about spring being late for you this year... as I recall, last year at this time, we had morning lows of -42C (about -45F, otherwise known as *!*!*!* COLD). This year, we've had a lovely March so far, although we're still in severe drought (lovely being daytime highs above freezing). Wanna send some of that yucky snow our way?

Hope your fall is lovely, Carol - here it's one of my favorite times of year (along with spring and summer ;-) because the colours are so beautiful.

Perhaps I shouldn't mention that it was 83 degrees where I was yesterday. ;-)

You know what they say Rob. Spring comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. I hope the lion has his last roar soon.

Hi Tricia. We are having a lovely spell of mid 20's C. It's hard to imagine that you have drought up there. I guess just because you have cold winters doesn't mean their wet ones.

Hi Gayla. I hope you're getting lots of nice photos on your travels.

It's official = Today's more sunshine that shade for T the C.

But less for the Oz ones of us.... 8<(

Now, I did say "more synshine" - I didn't say "more heat"!

Spring has definitely come to our area. The pecan trees are leafing out. They're always the last, not chancing a late freeze. They are my signal to call it spring for sure when they put on their new pale lime green tufts.

Pollen count now down to "under" 1100 ... Highest was 5400.

Pecan trees? Sounds good to me.

Poopie pollen!

Well I'm getting a break in work for this weekend and it feels so good just to be able to have access to a computer and the net!

My assignment will be done later this month and then I'll be able to visit here more and torture youz guyz with my usual presents. Fish start biting soon too. Can't wait!

Poopie pollen is right! My husband hasn't adjusted to Oklahoma 'springtime' and now he has a sinus infection. :-(

Rob, it will be nice to have you around more often! :-)

-- Gayla (privacy@please.com), April 09, 2004.

Enjoy your break Rob. Kick back and relax.

Sinus infection is miserable Gayla, I hope your hubby has some good medication and is soon feeling better. Autumn here is glorious. Sunshine and no sneezing.

Robert and Jean, I hope the hayfever isn't too bad this year.
