tyre size

need a new front tyre recomended size 165/50/17 has anybody tried a 170/50/17 or 160/50/17 that can give me some feedback as to handling etc this is a 2000 f4 thanks vic goll

A 165 for the front?! I think something's wrong here... You should be looking at a 120/65 for the front, and a 180 or 190 for the rear...

An answer to the questions you didn't ask, but meant to.

Try to stick with the 120/65 on the front.

Some people have found problems - dropiing to 120/60 may put your wheel rim at risk (some have suggested) or going the otherway 120/70 can put the frontwheel into contact with the radiator if the forks bottom out. It's a bit of a pain as not all tyres come in that size. This should improve though as some other bikes are now using this size.

With the rear although the F4S has a 190 as OE, you may have noticed that the Senna is fitted with a 180. Everyone who has tried this, including myself, find it an improvement. The handling is a little lighter, turn in quicker and general feel is much better with the smaller rubber.
