Does protestantism have any error?

What do you mean??

Protestantism is a movement against the Roman Catholic religion.

All human beings can and do err....

-- (faith01@myway.com), February 23, 2004.

By its very nature, Protestantism does perpetuate error in that no two Protestant doctrines are identical. Neither will two Protestant theologies be identical, so how can there not be error?

The questions are:

Who can understand the Scriptures and teach them without error?

Who can lead the sinner to Salvation without false doctrine?

Show me such a person or church who proclaims to have the truth without errors. I can only think of one such person.

The Holy Spirit is the answer......

Error #1:Assuming all answers are in the Bible.

The Man of Yahweh

The Christian Yahwist

-- Elpidio Gonzalez (egonval@yahoo.com), February 23, 2004.

Error #1 is believing that God's Word doesn't have all the answers, especially where salvation is concerned..

-- (faith01@myway.com), February 23, 2004.

Error #2: Is believing that God's "Word" is text only.

Error #3: Is worshipping the Bible instead of God.

Error #4: Is believing that one is saved simply because they believe it instead of believing that Salvation is always offered and that we may stay in His Grace.

......................

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), February 23, 2004.

Error #5: Is formulating a doctrine and then looking for how it fits in Scriptures instead of learning God's Will and making a doctrine from His teachings.

How many people/believers claim to have the Holy Spirit indwelling in them? And, who do you trust?

"Error #1:Assuming all answers are in the Bible"

Elpidio, no one ever claimed this, and the bible also does not claim this.

PS: You are not Christian.

"How many people/believers claim to have the Holy Spirit indwelling in them? And, who do you trust?"

Rod, no one is denying that there are wovles in sheeps clothing. Oh, by the way... I lost a game that would have tied me in for first in the chess tourney, so I went down to 8th overall.

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), February 23, 2004.

Well, some wolves believe they are sheep.

I'm sure that you are an excellent chess player, David. Someday we should have a game. I'll play you with one arm tied behind my back to give you some kind of fighting chance. :}

In Jr. High, I gave the a school principal a good game. He didn't pull any punches. I almost beat him, but....he was older than me.

Actually, you'll probably slaughter me and I shall never again see the light of day for the great shame I shall bring to my family's name in defeat. Chess Rule #1: Make the other guy think that you are weak and vulnerable.

Protestantism is built upon a revolt against the established institutions of its time during Luther's life. The conditions were a time bomb of change in society.

I'm waiting for James R. White to get some free time so he can play me. He already agreed, but just doesn't have time.

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), February 23, 2004.

David...you know James White?

Very interesting.....

I loved his book "The Roman Catholic Controversy."

-- (faith01@myway.com), February 24, 2004.

Faith,

You can chat with him on mIRC. http://www.peteweb.com/proschat/

His screenname there is "DrOakley". And no, I really don't know him, but I've chatted with him a few times. And he only remembers me by the guy who said "I'll mop the floor with you (in chess)". So I'm just waiting to play him.

do you guys remove the signs of popery from the board before you play?!?!?!

"A strong point is the nature of the Bishop's movement and power...linear forward and backward along the diagonal lines of the same color with like Bishops able to attack like Bishops and not able to attack opposite colored Bishops. The dual-fold nature inherent in the moving patterns for the Bishops suggests a strong tie to the influence of the ecclesiatical power in the middle ages as well as the tension inherent in religious heirarchies, which is juxtaposed very neatly with the civil nature of monarchial power and heirarchy. Error #6: Belief that one can be saved in the Catholic Church.

Error # 7: Belief that one can be saved in a denomination.

-- Kevin Walker (kevinlwalker572@cs.com), March 18, 2004.

Error #8: Tele Tubbies....uh, I mean Tele-Evangelism. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you probably won't have to pay taxes on all of the cash that is "raised". But, there is a higher price to pay, so you may fool many, but not the Holy Spirit.

Error #9: Believing that only you have the truth and that all others are lost.

..........

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), March 18, 2004.

Error # 10: Belief that the word of God is not sufficient to save.

-- Kevin Walker (kevinlwalker572@cs.com), March 18, 2004.

Error #9: Believing that only you have the truth and that all others are lost.

This applies only to those who cannot prove through the word of God what one must do to be saved.

-- Kevin Walker (kevinlwalker572@cs.com), March 18, 2004.

Error #11: Habitually making interpretations of Scriptures based on fundamental approaches without regard for complete historical, traditional, and circumstancial contexts of those Scriptures.

Error #12: New versions of the Holy Bible that are "paraphrased".

.............

-- rod (elreyrod@yahoo.com), March 18, 2004.

Error #13

Thinking a translation: King James Bible , Reina Valera,...is better than the original in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

#14- glossing over different opposing scriptures

#15- claiming that there are no contradictions in scripture.

#16- They have nothing to do with the Catholic Church when they really do (Trinity, ....)

Elpidio,

No scholars could ever match the scholarship of the KJV translators. It is the best english bible. How many years did you study 'greek'? Do you even have a minor in it?

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), March 18, 2004.

Elpidio, a perfect God communicating to His creation does not makes errors. You on the other hand, do.

Elpidio,

And if you really wanted to stand up for your beliefs, since none of us here can answer any Greek/Hebrew arguements, (even though you can't even answer the English questions that REFUTE you, and basically say "the translators who were fluent in 7 languages and study the 'original' languages for more than 30 years each were wrong, and i have proved it with my few years of studying koine greek" defense), go into James White' channel and challenge him, in English, Hebrew and Greek and you'll see that no scholar will agree with you.

-- David Ortiz (cyberpunk1986@hotmail.com), March 18, 2004.

The truth will prevail in the end, David.

I take one thing at a time. The time will come when I will probably will debate Mr. white.
