Pro-Life Feminists? Yes, they exist!

I recently discovered that abortion has been around since antiquity. I'm a little slow on the uptake, I suppose. I also discovered to my suprise, that the leaders of the early women's movement in America were against abortion! Why was I surprised by that when abortion is really anti-woman? I guess I fell for the whole media thing that feminists are all pro-choice. In my opinion, those who are truly for women's rights and equality are those who fight abortion.

Here is a link showing what figures such as Susan B. Anthony had to say about abortion.

The Church has not only been against the sexual exploitation of women, but also against such crimes as abortion since the beginning. I think we all need to keep asking ourselves what are we doing to help out women in crisis pregnancies so they will not be pressured to choose death. It's not enough to make abortion illegal. That will not end it. We also need to change the culture so that life is welcome, and those who make mistakes have a support system which will help them throughout their pregnancies and into early childhood.

I found the whole topic of early feminists and their view of abortion enlightening so I wanted to pass it on. I think Susan B. Anthony would be first in the fight against such pseudo-feminist organizations as NOW. I guess it's another example of our culture redfining a word to make what is evil sound good and what is good to sound evil. Don't even get me started on "tolerance."

What you will find form the opponants of the Churhc is charges of beign anti-women, anti-Sex, and anti-Reason, whereas tey tote themselves, by default, as beign for them.

In reality, they ae for the destruction of women, and men, by giivn them over to theirbser lusts that destory them, and fostering unhealthy atitudes about it. The Church is for Responcibility in our actions, the protection of women, and the excersise of free reason, tempered with obedience to a set value sytem. Thsi ensures our protection as individuals and as a society.

The modern world, however, wishes to tarnish the Church, by claiming, falsely, that it is for oppression. That they are for freedom. But as anyone who lived in the world and is notw in the Churhc will tell you, it is more oppressiv ou their thean in here.

Andy, You are correct about Susan B. Anthony. I'm sure she would be disgusted by those who call themselves feminists today. Just as civil rights leaders from long ago would probably be disgusted by those who call themselves civil rights leaders today. It seems to me that abortion is the only issue that defines feminism today. Maybe lesbian rights, sexual harrassment laws (which shouldn't apply to those believe in abortion rights -ie. Bill Clinton), or infiltrating traditionally male organizations like sports teams or country clubs, or THE PRIESTHOOD.

I think you'll find that the early feminists were also very ANTI- CONTRACEPTION. They knew it was a way for men to further degrade women.
