OFFICIAL STATEMENT (or as official as it gets at the time)

As of now you probably noticed that the main page (www.sharereactor.com) and the forums (forum.sharereactor.com) is offline. However our IRC server is still running, although you CANNOT connect to it through the DNS, so use 217.160.142.238 instead, and feel free to join #ShareReactor if you want too…

Now enough of this babbling…. Why is ShareReactor down? You’re all asking. The truth is, none of us knows. However it’s seems to be DNS problems, since jigle.com and a few other sites is online which is running on the same line as ShareReactor is/was. SimonMoon has been offline for almost 2 days at the time you are reading this, so nothing can and have been confirmed, so please don’t jump to any conclusions.

Now you all probably wonder when ShareReactor will be back up. Again none of us knows, however the core and some of the users still hang around at IRC, and when the page gets back online, that’s the first place it will be announced.

If you wish to contact anyone from the crew and are unable to get on IRC, you can use the mail addresses at the bottom of this post. If the person you seek is not listed, send the mail to someone else and tell him/her to pass it on

Internet-Site taken offline

FRAUENFELD (kapo) Due to the suspicion of breach of copyright and trademark laws the cantonal judicial Inquiry department of Thurgau has taken down an Internet-Site that served as a link platform for filesharing offerings. A process concerning these matters against the 25 year old owner from Frauenfeld is underway.

The Internet-Site located in Frauenfeld was online for about 30 months and last had over 220.000 hits per day bevor it was taken offline by the Thurgau officials. The in search engines toprated site worked as a anchorpoint for links to downloads of copyright and trademark protectet games and movies that were offered on the filesharing network.

After a complaint from several large corporations, represented by the swiss association against piracy, the cantonal judicial inquiry department of Thurgau initiated an investigation, seized the servers in Frauenfeld and had the site taken offline.

The responsible owner, a 25 year old swiss proved to be very cooperative in explaining matters at hand. The inquiries continue and will take some time.

thats is a right fucker, they can keep takin the sites off but there will be new ones. goverments and companies keep tryin to get sites shut down but i know for a fact no matter how hard they try to shut em down i would never go to a shop to buy what companies charge for there sofware, rip off artists

That's really sad. Although, technically, they can't charge an anchor point with copyright infringement. It's fairly easily beaten down, unless the judge has been seriously paid off.

I mean, it's like saying NO one can own a VCR, because it's an anchor point for infringing on copyrights contained in movies (it's been legally proven yo ucan make back up copies of) and TV shows. Theoretically, he should be able to get off clean.

hey, the guy is paying the price for soliciting pirated software. Look deep down and tell me if you think that is the truth or not... Anyway, I feel that the software companies are overcharging their products. If you look at the profit margins for their products, you have to agree....

To make it short and sweet: MR Moon made a sacrifice. Praise him. There will be others like him. Lets remember him, and hope that he will beat the charges. We all know that if he does, its on technicalities (do you seriously believe he was not infringing on copyrights?).

Kudos Mr Moon. Hope there will me more folks like you.
