I recently downloaded a movie file with a cdi extension. I wanted to know how I could play the file? It won't play on Windows Media Player, Realone player or Power DVD...how can I actually see the movie??

CDI is a very very old format that can be compatible with VCD. Do a web search on CDI. You may need a special software player for it.
