When are we likely to get a new pope? how are they chosen?

May be a dumb question but i am interested to know how new popes are put ino position? and when does it happen. Is it after the death of the previous one or what?

this may start silly, but... has anyone ever called you three times by name when you were deaply asleep without response? Well if you are the Pope you better never get that tired.

I am sure there is now. This is just tradition. There is also a silver hammer (I'm not kidding) that can be used to plonk the holy father on the head to see if there is a reaction. ... again these are simply traditions. I am sure a medical determination of death is used today.
