Noticeable Klunk In Hip!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

My right hip was replaced 14 mths ago and I have had a klunking noise since I was able to use it. It occurs with abductions and stepping backwards. No pain involved. Will these activities cause undue wear of liner? Is this common complaint? My OS just tells me to try and not recreate the noise.

Hi I don't have an answer for you but it just so typical of an answer given by an OS. I would talk to someone in physical theropy, Good luck to you Diane

It is an unusual complaint. It is impossible to tell what is causing it without seeing you and some xrays. If you are asymptomatic, your surgeon's advice seems reasonable.

I don't really have an answer but I have the same clunking noise in my re-surface hip. I had thr & that one is fine. I have had terrible problems with the recent one of 2yrs ago. I've had x-rays & bone scans only to be told that the hip is fine! How can that be when I have had so much pain? Again like so many people I have been told it's my back causing the problem but I know very well that it's my hip!
