COUNTY COURT CLAIM - Do I get the best solicitor I can afford?

Has anyone any advice/suggestions on the way forward?

Brief summary - I recieved a County Court claim from the Court via the Halifax's [lender] solicitors [Drydens]in January. I have denied the claim, filed a defence and recieved an 'Allocation questionaire' from the Court.

The claim is disputed and the defence is based on a significant file of correspondance between both parties, that the 'lender';

1.failed to provide strict proof to support their claim 2.acknowledged proof of ‘Undersale’ claim 3.claim is founded on fraudulently falsified information 4-7.fraudulently falsified information in multiple sections of their “Report for Properties in Possession” reports 8.acted negligently in their marketing of the Property. 9.acted negligently in accepting the valuation in the “Report for Properties in Possession” reports. 10.acted negligently in accepting the Sale Price. 11.refused to provide evidence, unreasonably threatening “Legal Proceedings” instead 12.pursued a course of action constituting conduct intent on imposing harassment, distress and anxiety 13.contravened Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 in repeatedly pursuing a course of action constituting conduct intent on imposing harassment, distress and anxiety

During period December 2000 to September 2001 the 'lender' was, without prejudice, requested to submit substantiating information to support their disputed claim and to account for their actions in fraudulently falsifying survey report information, via limited evidence supplied, in their “Report for Properties in Possession” documents and further; to account for their actions in pursuing the claim through non-cooperation, intimidation & harassment.

I've communicated without predjudice since the repo in 1996, via formall correspondance only - over the last 3 years!!

Any advice is much appreciated.

p.s Thanks a billion for your excellent work & advice from the site!!

Anon.
