I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a brief history of the study psychology as a disipline. I was wondering where/when the first psychology department was set up and how quickly the study spread within universities world wide. Does anyone know this or can they direct me towards were I might find out?

You will find many answers to previous questions like yours in the "origins" and "z-General/Misc" categories. Any history of psychology textbook will give you the answers. One that is particuarly short and readable is Michael Wertheimer's _Brief History of Psychology_.
