why do some vcds not play ome vcd players want to learn how to convert from vhs to vcd; vhs to dvd.

http://www.dvdrhelp.com has guides on capturing video, which is what you need to do with VHS sources. VCDs won't play for various reasons, such as 1) Some DVD players don't support the format 2) Some players don't play burnable media, so if you make a VCD to CD-R/W, it won't play 3) Some players will play VCD, but only on specific brands of burnable media 4) The VCD was not made correctly 5) The player is expecting total compliance with VCD standards and some burning programs such as Roxio and Nero don't totally comply with the standards.
