Just waiting for the frost to melt before going outdoors. Gotta clean the barn, then hopefully get to weeding more perennial beds. Supposed to be in the 50s today, and sunshiny!

How's everyone else's spring proceeding? Heard the upper E. Coast got clobbered by some freaky snow storm.

Got mud?

Beautiful here today.. we have lots of snow to melt, so its messy, but sunny and in the upper 40's.

Yep, got plenty of mud here! The top inch or two of the soil has thawed out, but it's still frozen down beneath so it's a bit like a mud skating rink outside, but the horses love it! They have all wallowed and are mostly covered from the tips of their ears to their tails, spring shedding has started and they are soooo itchy, so even though the mud looks bad, to them, it feels wonderful.

Now today it is snowing and terribly windy, temps around 30 degrees, big change from yesterday when it hit the 60's in the afternoon. I intended to get the outside windows washed, but the wind made that too challenging, couldn't even finish cleaning up the flowerbeds that were still blooming when winter hit late last fall, just too much wind.

At least the mud isn't deep like some winters :-).

Spring is in the air here also! My horse has just started to shed...even though we're expected to get 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. We're way below normal snowfall (we have almost nothing on the ground now) for this area for the winter, and all totalled, we've only burned half the firewood that we normally do. Such a strange winter!!

Bought my pea seeds at the feed store the other day. I just KNOW it's gonna be an early spring :-)!!

I *did* get the barn cleaned (very wet bedding!), and then started in on the perennials. Wow. EVERYTHING (almost) is already up...daylillies, larkspur, daisies, penstemon, iris, crocosima, and other stuff I can't think of at the moment...I guess just the hostas, fuschias, and astilbes are still asleep. Well, I guess dahlias, strawflowers, pulmonaria, and everything else is still sleeping too. But...the weeds are definitely busy out there (this afternoon's project). I also dug up another 100 or so square feet of bedding (reclamation project from the lawn). If the weather holds, I'll have to get out in the vegetable garden and get some peas and stuff planted. I dread weeding the strawberries. I'm afraid I really let stuff go last fall. No blossoms on the trees yet, though.

Is this global warming or what?
