It saddens me how ignorant you all are. As far as the original post, you are clearly very immature, not to mention illiterate. For the rest of you, even those of you who probably thought that you were "smart" and defending Poe as a writer, you have a lot to learn. I'm put at great unrest with comments such as calling him "a freak or a sick man." If you truly view him as a "freak or a sick man" then you obviously don't know very much about the life he endured, and surely can't appreciate the great literary aspects of his works. Poe was by far one of the greatest romantic writers; he incorporated nature, feeling, sound, especially music, and most of all the impacts of his hardships on his manifestation. To anyone who cannot truly appreciate Poe and his work for what it really is instead of just a product of a "sick but cool man," I suggest you look more into the life and work of this amazing writer.
