Did Poe have a disorder? a sickness?

Was E.A.Poe sick with anything? It seemed to me that he had a mental disorder of some sort, or maybe something else. I am not sure about this, I am just curious.

There is no factual evidence that he was sick from something (mental or physical). He did suffer from addictions from opium and alocholism.

Yes Ashley was correct there is no actual evidence that poe was sick mentally or phisically. Just everone had a opinion on how the way poe took fiction or non-fiction and put it on paper.

There was a statement that he died from "excessive nervous prostration affecting the brain and resulting from exposure, encephalitis or inflammation of the brain . . . [a condition] a physician of today might prefer calling it lobar pneumonia, complicated by transient retardation or depression" but some believed that it was due to just mere drinking. but it showed that his addiction to alchoholism was not the reason, but this condition that he had was more of a correction to his death.

He had pnomonia i think, and mixed with his drinking, he died. When he died, he was laying in a crusty drainage ditch outside his house. what a way for one of the best writers ever to go. its a shame.
