Friends, countrymen, Romans; I come not to praise Cesar. I come to burry Cesar. The United Catholic Church. Tell me what you think.

All the poor outcasts now have a "Catholic Church" to attend. The rejected/dejected Catholics, who don't want to become Protestants (Funny), can attend this ecumenical society of "Catholics".

Huh? I'm curious about how this forum would view the UCC (also funny name).

Sounds interesting and dubious at the same time.

LOL!! My mind is always baffled at things like this. I guess you could say they are Independently United? I never know how that works. Lol. I hope the phrasing of being homeless doesn't give the wrong impression.

Well, Rod,

I know there is one here in Los Angeles.

You noticed this one coms from the split of 1870 on Papal infallibility. The Dogmas on Mary like the one in 1950 by Pope Pius XII is rejected.

I am surprised they are now trying to go even beyond, even to the early Christian roots.

Most people are more familiar with the St Pius X society ( of whom Mel Gibson is their most famous member) who split up on the 1962 missal.

But I believe, a bigger split is about to occur in the next 20 years.

The Catholic church has never split, it is just all others leaving the ark. The latest is the Vatican 2 church.

Meanwhile the protestants will add another 200 churches.

Willie,

The Church split into East and West in 1054 AD.

I can't say that I agree with the UCC doctrine dealing with Homosexuality.

Me neither, Rod.

I had homosexual friends, but I don't approve of their actions.

A person might be homosual when coming to my church, but he must renounce homosexuality to join in.

Paul and Jesus would no approve of homosexuality as a way of living. The Man of Yahweh

The UCC theology is saying the homosexuality is a human characteristic that one can be born with. The flip side is that heterosexuality is also a birth characteristic. This means that when God allowed our existence, He gave us a sexual preference. I cannot accept such a thing. I believe that our sexual preference is a learned behavior engendered by extrinsic stimuli: survival, social, cognitive. Therefore, we have a choice. The same can be applied to the "other" sins: murder, adultery, etc. We do have a sin nature, but we also have the choice to sin or not to sin. We are all tempted by powerful circumstances to sin, some people are strong to resist while other may not be. Therefore, the way a church does not condone a sinner to commit murder, adultery, or any sin, the church should not condone homosexuality.

Strong Evidence

God create Adam and Eve. He gave them Free Will. He gave them the means for reproduction. It would seem most logical that Adam and Eve didn't need much persuation to connect the dots--enters Satan. The fall of man has produced the distortions that we witness today. We have a choice to return to the original plan. One man and One woman equals One complete in the flesh.

I believe same as you, Rod, thet our sexuality is instilled in us. WE are given gender roles since we are little.

That is why I have a hard time when people who practice lesbianism or homosexuality adopt kids.

Do they give them free will in regard to their sexuality, or do they tell them being gay is OK?

This UCC is certainly not Catholic nor is it Apostolic. I'm not even sure if it qualifies as being Christian since they seem to believe in 'anything goes'.

-- John Miskell (RomanRite@aol.com), February 11, 2004.

rod,

Heterosexuality is part of normal human nature and comes to us at inception. While I do believe a person can be born with homosexual tendancies, these tendancies are an aberration from the norm. It's been pretty well established that alcoholics are born with a predisposition to alcoholism. This being the case one still cannot make an argument that it's good for an alcoholic to continue his drinking since being a tragic drunk is 'normal' for him. The same could be said for pyro-mania, clepto-mania, pedophilia and a host of other possibly genetic aberrations.

Homosexual tendancies are just one of many manifestations of our fallen nature, our crosses to bear, and our need for a Redeemer.
