Did Poe ever recite "The Raven" for the literary citizens of Richmond, VA with the Rev. Dr. Woolsey introducing him?

I don't recall him ever really reciting his poems often. Especially back in Richmond. Although, I would look into that - "The Raven" gave him some literature popularity during his life.

You are quite right: Poe, when lecturing about "The Poetic Principle" at Richmond, Va, during the last months of his life (e.g. in Aug., 1849), used to conclude it with an impressive recitation of his "Raven", as well reported in various newspapers (cfr. the Jackson/Thomas "Poe Log", i.a.). But I don't remember any Rev. Dr. Woolsey amid Poe's circle. Yours sincerely, Raven's Shade (Belgium).
