I've never heard a question quite like that. Obviously, his leg was not made of cheese - they still believed in wooden pegs. And no, he wasn't a woman - that was rare.

HOWEVER, the most bizarre thing about Poe is that he was addicted to opium and alcohol and gambling in the entirity of his life. And every women he seemed to love died from tuberculosis.

If you really want to go a bit farther, Poe's most bizarre aspect of his life - WAS HIS DEATH. He disappeared for three days (presummably on another drinking binge, as he got continuously worse after his wife, Virginia died), showed up in a gutter in Boston. He died three days later, from "congestion of the brain." Conspiracies have circled his death...

Some say he died from rabies, others say the mafia got him, and others say the federal government was after him...
