It is completely unknown whether anyone "poisoned" Poe at all unless it were some unknown person who plied him with drink while he went missing. Unknown. Unknown. No evidence. It's like asking who Poe's Turkish relatives were.

Poe historians belive that perhaps it was a Political Murder. Politicians would hire people to drug someone, and then the person they drugged would be a double voter. This is seemingly believable because at the time Poe died it was around election time.

Lots of papers have said lots of things, and they cannot all be right. It is one thing to assert something, and quite another to prove it. The rabies theory does not survive even the slightest appraisal of evidence.

I think alot of people are dumb for the answers that they are giving. Over the years many things have been said about Poe. The thing is though, no one knows. We to this day have very little information as it is. Many people say that he was poisoned but others have said different. So to everyone saying dumb answers, I am a fan of Poe's work and I still do not know the answer to who killed him. If I do find out I will tell you.

It is unknown as to how Poe died, there are several theories. Alcoholism, Rabies, Poisoned, Gang Beating...No one knows the EXACT cause of his death, as much of his life was just as mysterious.
