SRM Acquires Ga Road #1026

The Southeastern Railway Museum is pleased to announce the acquisition of Georgia Road Locomotive #1026. This EMD model GP7 locomotive served in the Atlanta area on the Georgia Railroad starting in 1950. The museum is excited to be adding this part of Georgia’s transportation history to the collection. Funding for this acquisition was provided by a number of private donors as well as proceeds from the museum’s fall Phantom Trains fundraiser. The museum plans to restore the locomotive to its 1950’s appearance and to use it both as an exhibit and as standby power for the museum’s caboose train rides. The museum anticipates taking delivery of the locomotive in February.

I wonder if the SRM would be interested in the EMD drawing "Styling and Painting" for the Ga 1026? Contact me off line and I'll be glad to talk about it. Ron D

Randy, what is the history of the #1026 after its Ga RR days? Always great to see components of the "Georgia Group" preserved.
