Mrs. Carole Webster passed away on Sunday, January 18. I've not been able to confirm services for Tue. Jan. 20 and no such announcement is in today's Columbus newspaper, so I'm inclinded to think it will be at a later date.

Condolences may be sent to Bishop Robert V. Webster, 2767 Halleck Drive, Columbus, OH 43209.

I've received word from an usually good source that "a memorial service for Mrs. Webster will be held Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. The service will be at Mt. Vernon Avenue AME Church." I asked whether it would be a memorial service or funeral and she said the person who told her said "memorial service", but it could be a funeral.

The church is located at 1127 Mt. Vernon Avenue, in Columbus. The ZIP is 43203 and the phone number is 514-258-6473 and the pastor is the Rev. William Wheatley.

The service on Wednesday will indeed be a funeral service. Bishop Philip Cousin, Prelate of the 4th District, will deliver the eulogy. I have also been told that there will be another service to be held on Friday of this week at St. Stephen AME Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Bishop Webster served as the pastor of this church for numerous years, and was elected out of this church. Mrs. Webster will not only be missed by her family, but will also be missed by those persons who were blessed to know her.

We are saddened in the third district by the loss of our episcopal supervisor and for our beloved bishop. Please, keep our bishop and district in your prayers, especially our bishop. When you lose a spouse and you've shared much of your life with them, it is as if you have lost part of yourself. May God bless and keep our bishop and his family.
