http://www.vcdhelp.com has guides on converting AVI to VCD/SVCD. I can't say honestly that you won't lose ANY quality though. VCD uses MPEG-1 video and SVCD (like DVD) uses MPEG-2. MPEG video codecs are lossy, which means that they throw away part of the video information to save space. If you use TMPGenc to encode with to SVCD and use the Noise Reduction option under Settings->Advanced, you might be able to improve the video quality if you don't mind waiting 2-3 days for it to encode. I'm not kidding. Stating that you don't want to lose any quality is not a very realistic goal of VCD or SVCD making, unfortunately. I would recommend you make a SVCD as the higher bit rate will give you a better chance at having an acceptible final result.

Hmmm.... Why wouldnt you just burn it onto one CD? unless it just barely doesnt fit or you dont have a big enough CD... Then I'd suggest a movie-editor such as the one provided with Win XP or ME, and use the tools to slice it into 2 pieces and save each as its own file.

use some special softwares to convert from AVI to VCD,SVCD,DVD ..ect (there are alot of them you can pick one) choose the file size and bitrates. Creating and edit MPEG with higher resolutions and bitrates for your SVCD, i sugest use TMPEnc. This is will be a long conversations about converting AVI to MPEG (VCD,SVCD,DVD) .. if you get those softwares and you cant make it .. really to hear "my long steps" well .. email me, I will show you how but :) ofcourse whenever i am free (busy man) huh :)

Goodluck
