I have a Savage 110 in .22-250 which is quite a pussy caliber and has no recoil but it sure gets the job done on a groundhog up to 400 yards...neways, my dad has a 110 in 7mm magnum and it beats the living shit outta him so I've come to the conclusion that its either the 7mm magnum or the stocks arent too great, then again on the other hand I've never shot a more comfortable, accurate, 22 caliber gun as that Savage I have in .22-250

I own a Savage chambered in Rem. 7mm Mag. and as it came off the shelve the thing was a mother bear to shoot, the recoil was intense. When I decided to use it as a practice rifle for military sniping, I "loaded" the stock with lead and resin, changing the rifle wieght from under 7 lbs. to slightly over 16 lbs., then got rid of the stock recoil pad and had a shotgun pad from Pachmyer fitted. Now this modification wouldn't be desirable if your primary purpose is to lug it around the woods after deer, but if you want a high powered rifle that won't knock your teeth loose after a few boxes at the range, this might work for you.
