Good-bye Jeanie

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Dear Jeanie,

My patience may be one of my greatest character flaws. No doubt some members of the forum think so. I try to give a person every possible benefit of every possible doubt before taking action against them. You came here carrying the usual burden of false beliefs and traditions which we expect from people of your religious background. I allowed you to unload them freely, except for blatant statements of contempt and condemnation for God's Church and His appointed Vicar. Every question you asked was patiently answered and explained, usually several times, and every false accusation you leveled against God's Church was clearly and concisely neutralized by truth. Still you persisted. Some encouraged me to ban you from the forum. Maybe they were right. But I still had hope that you might pick up some seed of truth which might bear fruit for you in the future. I understand the frustration you must feel as one after another of your denominational beliefs are exposed as invalid and unscriptural in the light of infallible truth. But the spiteful, hateful, mindless diatribes you have been posting today are clearly the death throes of the defeated; therefore I can no longer see any possible justification for your continued presence here.

Therefore I am banning you from this Catholic Forum, effective immediately. No further posts from you will be allowed. Anything you do post will be deleted without hesitation or comment. Sorry it has come to this, but you have forced my hand - and that takes some doing!

Big Paul,

you have my full support in this measure. if Bilal does try anything against this forum, i have more than enough computer science buddies who can deal with his kind of meddling.

Your forum is a bit cleaner, now. Now, to clean the other one...

Please, help?

http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=00Bcpl I'm trying to stop the lies. If I'm out of line, tell me and I won't bother anyone here.

Rod,

The "Ask Jesus" forum is just full of anti-Catholic ignorance. What is it you are looking for by posting a link to that forum? Support from other Catholics? I don't want to be negative but if we can't stop the anti-Catholic lies on the Catholic forum, we are not going to stop them on an Evangelical forum.

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

a truer word has never been said, andrew... aside from the word of God...

Paul M. you are doing a fine job. Your patience has been admirable. When dealing in these matters, I would suggest you go with your gut feeling in the future as you have in the past and not be swayed by what others say. It has served you well so far.

Keep up the good work!

Ok, please delete my posts in this thread.

Hee Hee...

Look at the Ask Jesus forum. They' re just post question after question and answering them themselves (Jeanie & David Ortiz)

So sad...

Mary Immaculate, pray for us

I'm fairly new here, so didn't vote, but think a banning was necessary. I don't envy anyone who moderates these internet forums.

If not for her last flurry of awful posts I might have asked the ban on Jeanie posting to be temporary, a fairly common practice on most boards, not sure that is an option now.

Thank you, Moderator, for this courageous action -- which could have been better only if it had come much sooner. Jeanie was obviously experiencing a fit of "neophyte fervor" (having recently left ELCA for WELS), and there is no hope of reasoning with people like that. [Even veteran "confessional Lutherans" are usually impossible to talk to.]

Please adopt the proposal I made in my December 7 post at the bottom of this thread. [It was originally not addressed to you, but was intended to move all forum regulars to agree or to make counter-proposals, but there seems to be a disheartening degree of apathy (or cowardice) here at the moment.]

Thanks again for sending Jeanie on her way. I hope that it is a sign of rebirth for the forum.
God bless you.

Dear Moderator:
You're doing a good job; thank you. There are no winners here; only a necessary adjustment you've taken care of. You responded without haste, which was the fair thing to do, and Jeanie can't say she was cheated.

I don't agree this is a ''rebirth'' for the forum. And I don't see a need for regimenting either yourself or every contributor to our forum. Real abuse is easy to spot. You do well to show patience and charity instead of clamping down arbitrarily, as one recent moderator did. This is a free discussion forum serving the Catholic faith. When we get bashers, we deal with them, not by running away, but by serious discussion. I for one am sure you'll keep things serious and productive. That's why you're the Moderator.

Yes, I'll concede here, this is is one man's opinion, one attitude. Others might give you better advice. Mine is, just keep up your good work, and don't mind those who criticize. As long as you're doing your best! God be with you, Thanks!

Thank you, Moderator. I read in one of the threads where Jeanie said words to the effect that Catholics have lying, venomous hearts. That tipped my oppinion in favor of "ban her", though I'm against banning generally, on principle (not that my oppinion really matters). But when someone takes disagreement and turns it into anger, hate, and malice, especially against the Truth Christ left us in His Church, then is the time to take action, which you properly did. Bravo.

Paul, i go with what everyone else has said, keep up the good work!!

And Happy Feast Day all!!

Paul,

May her and the"Lebanese" grow in stronger faith.

Paul,

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. If Jeanie were truly interested in dialogue and even a healthy debate, she would be most welcome. But she comes in armed with slander, misinformation and downright lies for which she refuses correction.

To my Protestant friends, please feel free to post questions, or topics for "debate". That's fair and meaningful, but if the jargon becomes "toxic" it's time to say farewell!

Wow, I think that this is all a little harsh. I can understand that you are a little sick of having to put up with someone who doesn't believe in your faith, but Jeanie DOES believe in your faith, which is basically Christianity. Some people are Catholics and others are not, but you are all Christian here, nonetheless. When you complain and complain about her until she gets banned, you are assuming that your form of Christianity is better than hers. Can you understand how ridiculous that is? You've passed judgment on her, and I was under the impression that that is a big no no...

-- Jenny (oilcake@hotmail.com), December 11, 2003.

Jeanie does not believe in Christianity. She believes in a manmade, perverted caricature of Christianity, which rejects many of the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, replacing them with novel human ideas. However, in the end it was her behavior, not her beliefs, that got her banned. Unfortunately you won't be able to find the evidence of that, for the worst of her ignorant, spiteful remarks have been deleted. However, take a look at the "Ask Jesus" forum, which she is currently in the process of ravaging with her irrational anti-Catholic vitriol. Imagine the same messages posted on a Catholic forum. What do you suppose we would do? What would you do?

-- Paul M. (PaulCyp@cox.net), December 11, 2003.

I would be the bigger man and turn the other cheek. I would be patient. What you have done was done in annoyance and restlessness.
