BSA scopes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

another question. Any opinions/experience on BSA scopes? No good? Decent? Ok for hunting but not sniping? I've seen some that look good and are inexpensive, but am curious about their relibility and performance in 'real' conditions.

thanks

I bought a BSA scope about a year ago for hunting one of their 100 dollar jobs and about a month after i got it, the thing broke. when i would zoom in the scope the crosshairs would spin with it, how the heck that happens i don't know but i'll never buy another one, i know it was one of their cheap scopes but if they don't put any more than that into their products i don't need them.

I am like Carl, I can't figure out how to mount the RD30? Can anyone lend a hand?

Just bought a BSA model RD30 red dot. Like the look thru, but it doesnt mount on anything in my collection. Seems to take a mounting rail that is 7/8" wide. Very non standard to any other!!!!!!

I have a BSA 4-16 x 40 mildot scope on a 223 ruger 77vt. It has worked great I have used the mildots to take rock chucks out to 335 yards. On the shooting range I have shot out to 300 yards with no problems. I have not used this scope on large calibers so I don't know how good it would work. But on a small caliber I would highly recommend BSA mildot scopes.

A friend of mine has two BSA scopes, 20X varmint models with target knobs. The adjustments worked reliably when following wind changes at 300Y. They don't focus nearly as sharp as better quality/more expensive scopes, but otherwise have held up fine. One is on a 22- 250 and the other on a 6mm. Personally, I would hold out for something better.

Hope this helps...

i have 3 bsa scopes which work very well for me and are inexpensive which is good to but moslty there a very good scope which is built very solid. i would recommend the platinum for long range varmit and the big cat scopes for short ranges, but the one i have used most is the Contender Target/Hunting Scope 8-32X50mm A/O T.T. for $200
