ZipCars in Sunnyside and Beyond

Beetle Barry in Long Island City is a great start; are there plans to expand eastward with ZipCars? In Sunnyside, for example (hint hint). There's municipal parking under the elevated train on Queens Boulevard, are there any discussions with the city to get a sponsored spot there?

More generally, what's the best way to lobby ZipCar for a car in a particular neighborhood?

Thanks.

That's a good start. We tend to place vehicles where the demand is, usually as close as possible to where members live and work. If there is a local business that signs up a bunch of members that can help guarantee enough demand also.

The best way to lobby Zipcar for a car in a neighborhood is to get the neighbors interested. Spread the word. Tell everyone to send an email to info@zipcar.com if they would join if only a car were placed _____. When Zipcar gets enough inquiries, a space and a vehicle is arranged ASAP, and the trial period begins. If enough people join and/or enough usage tallied in the first 6 months, the space remains active.

Sunnyside is a great place to start. It's close to the City - and there is a much stronger residential market here than down by City Lights. If Zipcar put some cars in Sunnyside, it would be so much more accessible to a bigger market - Niall (Sunnyside resident!)
