What role does the black cat play in the story? QUICK HELP!

it is the outside talisman of the conscience, or a place to focus away from the darkness within the narrator. Like the Tell-Tale Heart however, making the cat a scapegoat and "removing" it does not work and it comes back to defeat him like any good conscience. The drawback is of course for all the fantasy and horror and fall the criminal does not fully have to face up to himself.

Well, after read both Black Cat and The Raven, I would suggest a certain connection. A black Raven and a black cat is often associated with death or mystic. Even though black cat and the raven are 2 completely different writing styles, the 2 stories seem to clutch extremly good. I think that the role of the cat is that related to Virginias death. Something that will always haunt him. Murphy, I am very thankful for our comments on this. Tian, this is only my point of view, open your mind, think for yourself, but i still hope that my answer can help you.
