Can a Steyr SSG be rebarreled?

Has anyone out there successfully rebarreled a Steyr SSG PII? Who? Where? and how much?

Yes, it can be done two ways. One through factory authorized repair shops where existing barrel is pulled out and a new one is pushed/pressed back into the action (with proper sizing and jigs to hold the barrel and head space it.

Second way is to take the action to an experience smith where he would cut the barrel and thread it to accept a new regular thread barrel. He would of course use the existing shank of the barrel which would need to be pinned in my opinion to be safe. I have heard of a case in Canada where a rebarrelled SSG threw its barrel 10 feet on front of the shooter after the shot went off. Not confirmed.

Good luck...

Yes it can. It is mainly done at the factory. Another way is to drill it out and fit the gun with another barell of your choice...
